From 27 to 31 July 2026, the Laboratory for Lightwave Metrology contributed to New Frontiers in Ultrafast Quantum Optics, an international summer school organized at the Lake Como School of Advanced Studies and held at Fondazione Alessandro Volta in Como.

Prof. Ioachim Pupeza was one of the school’s invited lecturers and contributed to its teaching program. Alongside presenting Lightwavelab’s broader scientific profile, he delivered two lectures titled “Infrared spectroscopy for biomedical applications” and “Femtosecond enhancement cavities.”

In the poster session, Lightwavelab postdoctoral researcher Dr. Pierre Koleják presented the Laboratory’s ongoing development of tomographic imaging of biological cells in the mid-infrared spectral region.

A central aim of the school was to make rapidly developing concepts and methods in ultrafast quantum optics accessible to the next generation of researchers. By bringing leading scientists into close exchange with participants at the beginning of their careers, including many Master’s students and researchers in the first stages of their PhD, the program provided both a coherent introduction to the field and direct insight into the questions, methods, and experimental capabilities currently shaping it.
