From 14 to 18 September 2026, the Laboratory for Lightwave Metrology was represented at the 24th Czech–Polish–Slovak Optical Conference in Pec pod Sněžkou, Czech Republic.
Ioachim Pupeza was invited to give the plenary lecture Electric-field-resolved infrared spectroscopy for biology and medicine. He presented how recent advances in sensitivity, dynamic range, and bandwidth are pushing field-resolved infrared spectroscopy beyond precision lightwave metrology toward measurements of complex biological systems, with applications ranging from high-throughput infrared flow cytometry to molecular analysis of breath.
Pierre Koleják gave an invited talk entitled Full-Wave Modeling of the Electric-Field- Resolved Mid-Infrared Response of Biological Cells. He presented a full-wave framework for predicting how the internal structure of biological cells is encoded in their measured infrared field response. This modeling is a key step toward spatially resolved field-resolved infrared measurements and, ultimately, field-resolved infrared imaging.
Martin Mičica contributed to the conference program with a talk on Terahertz electronic and spin currents in wafer-scale van der Waals Bi₂Se₃/WSe₂ heterostructures and polymorphs, presenting results from his previous research on ultrafast electronic and spin phenomena in van der Waals materials.
CPSOC 2026 gave us an opportunity to present our current work on Field-resolved infrared spectroscopy to the broader Czech–Polish–Slovak optics and photonics community.
