We’re happy to welcome Andreea Bonea, as our new Program Manager, connecting science, strategy, and society.
In her own words: “Joining the Laboratory of Lightwave Metrology at this moment means stepping into a young structure, one that comes with both freedom and responsibility. I am excited to help shape how things grow, move the needle where it matters, and embrace the reality of wearing multiple hats as the lab evolves.”

Andreea brings a hands-on mix of international experience. With a background in law and many years working as a tech project and program manager, she has led initiatives across Europe and Silicon Valley—from large-scale tech platforms (at Google and Yahoo) to creative and civic innovation projects (such as liquid-investigations.org). She’s at ease moving between technology, people, and ideas, and has a real talent for making complex things feel clear and manageable.
Alongside her work in technology, Andreea is managing cultural initiatives such as O Deserto Verde Live Journalism, where she coordinates students, journalists and artists to bring complex social and environmental topics to the public. (https://ejc.net/resources/live-journalism-map).
With a blend of structure, curiosity, and cultural sensitivity, Andreea loves bringing teams together and helping good ideas turn into real, working projects.
At the Laboratory of Lightwave Metrology, she will support our coordination and research by strengthening workflows, communication, and long-term planning across research sites and international collaborations. Beyond managing projects, resources, and funding initiatives, she will also help grow partnerships and public outreach—bridging science with art, culture, and society to expand the lab’s impact and global presence.
Feel free to reach out, say hi, and ask questions!
