Fraunhofer CAPS grant awarded

Our Optical Quantum Metrology group at Fraunhofer ITWM was awarded a grant of 200.000 € for joint experiments with the Fraunhofer IOF. The research goal is to test different nonlinear crystals for the generation of high-power, broadband mid-infrared radiation, driven by state-of-the-art kW-level average-power femtosecond fiber lasers at IOF. The findings are expected to benefit the future development of ultrabroadband, high-dynamic-range molecular spectroscopy, harnessing the coherence and brilliance of novel femtosecond lasers.

From the From the Fraunhofer Cluster of Excellence Advanced Photon Sources (CAPS) webpage:

The Fraunhofer Cluster of Excellence Advanced Photon Sources CAPS has been designed in such a way that not only laser sources, but also system technology and applications are being researched. Moreover, partners from industry and fundamental research have been invited to participate in using this unique infrastructure. For them, the cluster acts as a ”virtual institute”, in which the experts from the 21 Fraunhofer institutes  IAF, IAP, LBF, IFAM, IIS, IKTS, IMWS, HHI, FEP, ISIT, ISE, ITWM, ITEM, UMSICHT, IWM, IWS, IWU, IZI-BB and IZFP offer their combined expertise.
