We welcome Marco Personeni as a PhD in our group. Marco will be affiliated with the RPTU in Kaiserslautern.
Before joining the Laboratory for Lightwave Metrology, Marco completed his Master’s studies in chemistry with a specialisation in physical chemistry at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, with the thesis “Partitioning of ions and small molecules in aqueous-organic mixtures”.
Marco has a years-long experience in linear and nonlinear IR spectroscopy. His work has focused on the interactions taking place at the surface between different chemical environments and their ramifications in the bulk; in particular, he has studied the behaviour of ionic and ampiphilic species in aqueous systems via solvation shell spectroscopy.
Conjugating a lifelong passion for programming and data science with his formal education, he conceived and designed a set of statistical methods to process and extract information from a variety of spectroscopic measurements, which have been used in numerous collaborations with research groups from other universities and research institutions.
Marco will be involved in research related to infrared spectroscopy of gas samples and cells and the characteristics of their changes related to patients’ diseases in the intensive care unit.
